As a member of the
National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses
we have adopted the following
Standards and Ethics
Standards for local "Member Houses"
We shall:
- provide comfortable, affordable lodging for guests (and in some cases acceptable outpatients) requiring medical treatment in local or regional medical facilities;
- operate within a non-profit status (federal 501c3);
- have insurance for liability, worker’s compensation and directors/officers liability;
- have an annual audit, or an annual financial report, available for the board and others when requested;
- support the national organization (NAHHH) and pay membership dues in a timely fashion;
- provide NAHHH with address, phone number, e-mail address, mission statement, 501c3 document, and an annual report; (if MH does not produce an annual report, NAHHH will provide a form for necessary information);
- be encouraged to have e-mail and internet access;
- publish NAHHH phone number and web address on materials and in their local house;
- have a guest evaluation process in place to be used by the local guests;
- be a nonsmoking facility (or provide a separate place for smoking);
- have an evaluation process for cleanliness and quality of the facility.
Ethics for local "Member Houses"
We shall:
- respect the rights and values of all we serve, within consideration of our values and the law (Autonomy);
- respect and protect the privacy and confidentiality of all we serve;
- provide quality services in a timely manner to all, regardless of age (not withstanding our mission statement), race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or ethnic background (Justice);
- act in accordance with the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, treating others with respect, honesty and fairness;
- accurately present the scope of our services, expertise and financial operations to patients, families and charitable donors and community.
